Goodbye my fashionable friends!

Dear fellow fashionistas,

This will be my last post on this lovely blog. I had a great time shopping online and picking out lots of fun outfits and accessories to inspire you and me but due to lack of time and motivation it is time for this blog to come to an end.

I have moved on from my fashion obsession (o don't get me wrong, Im still a shopaholic haha) and have put all of my time and effort into learning to quilt. Lack of time and internet access (how I hate you comcast!) keeps me from even getting to update my quilting blog, let alone this one.

It has been a fun ride and thanks for following along with me for the past half a year.
I hope you all have a great day and good luck in your shopping endeavors!

If you happen to have an interest in crafts/quilting, here is my newest blog... to be updated at a future date when stupid comcast starts functioning again! Grrr...

MIA... sorry!!

Hi All!

Sorry I have been MIA for a while. I have been so busy and tired with work and my new calling as Ward Missionary, I haven't had much time for blogging. I also started quilting so that is taking up my leftover free time as well. Eventually I will start posting again.. until then, email me if you find some awesome outfits I should blog about! :)

OR... if anyone is just that awesome and wants to... I would love to have a joint blogger to post their fashion ideas and finds too! Let me know!

Enjoy your weekend all!

O back to school... back to school...

Its almost time for school to start and I've got my supply list started... not talking about pens and paper but the great deals to be had on fabulous new Fall items! The one thing topping my list this season are a great pair of trouser cut jeans like these here from Downeast Basics. Love the flattering cut, great dark wash, and best of all... they come in a tall size! Paired with this fun shirt from Anthropologie you are ready to get back into the school groove, looking great and accessorized for anything the teachers throw your way!

The newest skirt from Downeast Basics fresh online today has me all in a tizzy! I think the classic white pencil-skirt looks fabulous with the unique appliqued patterns on the side... just enough pop of color and pattern to make it interesting and easy to accessorize, while still retaining its classic style!

Super Cute Tankini Sale at Modbe!

Modbe Clothing is having a great sale on their super cute and modest swim separates. They have great styles and patterns that will flatter most figures, without looking frumpy and boring like some other tankini's out there. Here are some of my favorites from their current collection:

Little known Milka Rose...

I have realized that the modest shopping community does not know much about Milka Rose, especially when one woman posted dresses from them which were being sold by another person with a really high mark-up! I think they have some of the cutest modest dresses I have ever seen and thought they definitely deserved a highlight on my blog.

This orange dress in the middle is my absolute favorite, such a classic dress that will never go out of style.
Check out these and other super cute styles at http://www.mikarose.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3

Sweet summer skirts!

One of my personal shopping obsessions are knee-length skirts... probably because it was always hard for me to find them since I am so tall and fashion trends make skirts SO short generally. That is why I am especially loving the new line of summer skirts from Downeast Basics that was released this week. There are so many fun and flirty patterns and colors to fit any style or event! As someone who owns at least 10 of their a-line skirts I can attest to their comfort, quality, and general fabulousness!
Here are some of my favorites from their new line:

Downeast Summer Line Continued

To continue feeding my raving review on the newest Downeast Basics line comes their super cute summer tops. There are so many new styles  AND they have also added new colors of the flowered cardigan! I have this cardigan in hot pink and I am so glad to see it come back, especially in so many new colors. My favorite new top however def. is this polka dot one in the middle, cute to the tenth degree!

Saavy Summer Dresses

The new Downeast Basics line just came out this morning and I am all in a tizzy about their great new styles! First up are my favorite dresses for their summer line. They have the best colors and styles while remaining modest yet fashionable. Unfortunately some of them do not seem to be long enough for us really tall girls but the rest of the population is in for a treat!

A formal affair from Downeast Basics

I am so excited about Downeast coming out with a formal dress line especially because it seems like a few of their styles are long enough for me, and being 5'11 that does not happen often with their dresses!
I think this lovely flowered pink dress as well as the elegant navy dress are simply gorgeous and am trying to decide which one I want for my sisters wedding this fall. They have several other beautiful shades and styles, including the long formal black tie dress and the sassy silver ruffle dress shown below and with so many options you are sure to find the perfect fit for your formal needs!

Watermelon love from Boden!

I am totally into Bodenusa this week, as you may have noticed. I think this watermelon top and white appliqued skirt are one of the most perfect outfits I have seen all summer. White just screams SUMMER for me and with these gorgeous appliqued flowers it makes your outfit super unique and classy. Dress it up with your favorite heels and a few minor accessories and you are set!

Summer dress to impress

This colorblock dress at Bodenusa.com is such a perfect summer dress for so many occasions. It can be casual and sleeveless for a beach party or bbq, or dressed up a bit with a cute cropped cardigan for an indoor event or simply to give you more coverage. I love the color combination and as an added bonus... it comes in long for us taller girls! Yay!

Sweet as a Georgia peach

The flower trend lately has really bloomed (haha) and I love the combination of flowered accessories and tops. Pair these great summer styles with a pastel cardigan (peach is my new fave of the season if you hadn't noticed!) and your favorite summer bottom and you will be looking sweet as a Georgia peach and ready for any occasion!

Stripes are in, don't get left out!

A new summer trend that I really like are stripes of all sizes. Whether on a cute cardigan or breezy summer shirt, stripes are a great way to add some pattern and variety to your wardrobe without going overboard on the accessories. I am also loving the many shades of gray and yellow being showcased this season, such as the super cute shirts below from Downeast Basics and American Eagle:

Cardigans are blooming again!

I absolutely adore this cardigan from Downeast Basics and am glad to see it back in stock. I bought the hot pink one months ago and it was literally out of stock within a week or 2 of being put online. It has such a great fit and color and I think the little flower petals all over give it a really unique and feminine look. Get yours while they are available, they won't be there for long!

Summer party classic

I love the combination of colors mixed with the classic brown background on this new top from Downeast basics. The pattern and color combination makes this top so easy to dress up or dress down with simple accessories. Throw it on with your favorite pair of capris and a stand-by cardigan for changing weather and you are set for looking fabulous at any picnic or garden party this season!

Let the colorful times roll!

I have been m.i.a. in Kansas for the past 5 days and while I did not pick up any good fashion tips while there, I did recently see this super adorable skirt now available online from Downeast Basics! I love lots of color for summer and with a playful skirt like this there are so many top and color options to fit any style.

Pretty in pink and pearls!

Think pink and pretty with this gorgeous new summer dress from Downeast Basics. Thanks to the beautiful ruffle trim you will need minimal accessories to doll up for a night out; I suggest pearls for a classy and elegant balance to the bright and playful pink and because really, who does not love pearls?!

Hat day revamped

Ok, I can't 100% endorse giant head pieces but it is impossible for me not to blog about them. A lot of these headbands and hair accessories look really cute on these models but my first and repeating question is "WHEN would I wear that?" I am not a hat girl, barely in the winter even, but here are some unique and cute ideas for those of you braver than me:

Soda Shoes

While browsing my favorite blogs I was introduced to the company Zooshoo that sells this Soda shoe brand. I think they have some super cute styles and colors at AMAZINGLY cheap prices. I saw online that this brand is sold at Kmart so Im not sure of the fit/quality/comfort but I am definitely putting them on my list of things to try out soon because they are just too darn cute not to!

Turquoise I love you

Turquoise... even the name sounds lovely! I am all about this color and it seems like a lot of designers this season are as well. It is great in a lighter or brighter shade, whatever suits your fancy. I absolutely adore these turquoise shoes and decided to build an outfit around them for your enjoyment and mine:

Getting ready for that beach body

I know very few people who hit May and think "Wow, I am so ready for bikini weather!" without this thought closely being followed by panic.. "O my heck I have to fit into my swimsuit in HOW MANY weeks?!?!" I personally am part of that second group and have been "thinking" about working out a lot lately. Hopefully soon the thinking part will turn into doing... but until then, I will get myself motivated with some super cute work out clothes.
And FYI, I have this bra and it is one of the most comfortable sports bras I have EVER owned. I also own this work-out bag and its super cute... big enough for your shoes and gear but small enough to not be too cumbersome and bulky.

Loving the neutral zone

I am a huge fan of neutral tones... brown/black/white/gray/beige... you name them, I love them! Especially for summer having a few great pairs of neutral colored shorts can really make your wardrobe. Take these linen semi-dressy, semi-casual shorts from Gap for example... dress them up with a fancy shirt, dress them down with a plain T, so many options, so little time :) And isn't this flower bag simply gorgeous? Definitely loving the neutral zone this summer.

Feelin' Foxy

I am not expecting, nor expecting to be anytime in the near future, but I just had to share this great baby room idea from Ikea! I think this fox motif is simply adorable and its great that it comes in  curtains, bedding, storage, and even a cute little fox stuffed animal! Another awesome thing about this set is how affordable it is! Other than the curtains, everything else together is about $30, what a deal!

Orange you glad I love color?

Orange is probably my second favorite color, tied with mauve perhaps. And generally I stick to a darker Fall  burnt-orange but this short-sleeved jacket has me singing a different tune. Paired with my favorite modest cami from Shade clothing and a cute pair of shorts or capris, this awesome orange top is sure to be a hit at any picnic or party in your summer future. I absolutely love all of the orange accessories as well... be bold, be brave, be beautiful!

Fabulous Friday Finds for your house and mine!

Bring a little Summer and nature into your home with these great prints and pieces from Ikea! Absolutely in love with the cloud and hill duvet cover, now I just need to convince my husband that it needs to come home with us next time we are by Ikea :) Don't be afraid to let your creative juices flow, nature's beauty is all around us, why not in our homes too!

Who's looking good? Who... who... who....

I absolutely love this owl t-shirt and regardless of the "childish" factor of it, I decided to turn it into an outfit. I figure until my hair turns gray I can sport a t-shirt and jeans and still look like an adult, espcially one as cute as this with a hot pencil jean skirt! Absolutely love the matching green/yellow purse, so retro! And really, I could not resist adding the owl coin purse to this look... sometimes the kid in me just has to come out!

Think Pink

Downeast Basics has me craving pink this season. This is a perfect cardigan for those breezy summer days paired with a flattering pair of capris to get you ready for any outing or event. Add my favorite Rocket Dog flats and a skinny belt from Shade clothing and you are set! And really, how cute is that ruffled pink bag? That is enough to build a whole outfit around in my opinion! Think pink my friends!

How to accessorize your cardigans

I absolutely love the new "cardigan with a belt" look that has become popular this season. It is a great way to accessorize a flowing or boyfriend cardigan while accenting your feminine curves at the same time. I also love the idea of pairing an accessorized cardigan with a patterned skirt or dress as below from Ann Taylor Loft.

Gray- this season's best neutral

I am finding that gray seems to be one of this season's best neutrals. It looks great with pastels for Spring and brighter colors for Summer. Easier to maintain than white and keeps your temperature lower than black, gray is this girl's favorite neutral for summer. A few of my favorite examples of the beauty and versatility of gray come from Downeast Basics current Spring/Summer line. Get them while you can, their items sell out fast!

More Shabby Apple love

More of my faves from the new Shabby Apple Paris line... super fun, flirty and perfect for summer!

Favorite knee-length skirts from Downeast Basics

I am a huge fan of Downeast Basics knee-length skirts. Every seasons they come out with new ones, even cuter than the last! This is where most of my personal money goes but being 5'11 I have to seize great modest skirt deals where I can.

Generally I try to balance out my small waist and big hips with an A-line skirt and most preferably with a lower or drop waist. These skirts below all fit that bill and have been super flattering on me and my hips. Even the blue/white polka dot one can be worn lower if you buy a size bigger, which I did and it fits perfectly. I would highly recommend each and every one of these skirts for fit, color, comfort, and fabulousness :)

Favorite DEB

I do however really like Downeast Basics line of straight/pencil skirts, I just have not been brave enough to try them. Here are some of their new skirts I would love to try, if I ever get the courage to let my hips into a straight cut skirt:

Last but certainly not least come my top 4 party dresses from Nordstrom, wrapping my ode to Nordstrom dresses. Number one on my wishlist is definitely the pink dress below, number 3, awesome!

I realize that some of the dresses I have shown in the past few days have been outside of most of our price ranges, but the idea is just to get a sense of what new fun styles are out there this season! You never know what you could find on sale or at a discount store like Marshall's or Ross's so keep your wish list stacked and your eyes open.
